ROSE OIL
Bulgarian Rose oil is steam distilled (no solvent extraction) and is 100% pure. This rose oil contains the essence of Rosa Damascena flowers, cultivated in Bulgaria. The perfect growing location is the Rose Valley and climate with gentle sunshine ensures the fragrance, purity and naturalness of the essential oil intact and uncompromised. The usual rose harvest time in Bulgaria starts around the third week of May and continue, depending mainly on the weather conditions for three to five weeks.
The yield of oil can be dramatically affected by the weather. The best weather conditions for Rose harvest is mild and humid weather with night temperatures around 24-28 deg. C. Under normal conditions, harvest begins as soon as the flowers starts opening and continues until all the flowers have been gathered. Flowers are picked up very early in the morning whilst the morning dew is still on them, put in plastic bags and transported to the distillery the quickest possible way. The quantity of flowers picked up for the day should be processed as soon as possible with everyprecautions of keeping them fresh until the last flower has been processed because if the flowers are not kept fresh they begin to deteriorate and the precious volatile oil evaporates and looses quality.
